The Wine Guild & Silverchair: Win / Win / Wine

The Wine Guild has partnered with Silverchair (a local technology company) to provide their employees yet another facet to connect with each other, Charlottesville, and their global community. As part of our new corporate membership program, Silverchair employees are eligible for a steeply discounted membership rate for the Guild, granting access to some of the best wines available, private on-site tastings, and targeted programming for employee groups. With the Guild’s help Silverchairians can leverage their benefits to lead an engaged, balanced life.

The Guild views its corporate membership program as a natural extension of its mission: more people drinking good wine more often. Wines of quality that are sustainably cultivated have the ability to connect people with one another and the world at large. As such, the Guild seeks out like-minded organizations who strive to re-think the role businesses can play in creating a kinder, more equitable world.

Founded in 1993, Silverchair is deeply rooted in Charlottesville, with connections to Live Arts, DMB, and the local food / drink scene (most notably Three Notch’d). The company serves the mission-driven industry of scholarly publishing, and their culture is one that focuses on collaboration, wellness, and fun. This means a variety of employee perks like discounted gym memberships, free meditation apps, and more. As more and more Silverchair folks joined the Wine Guild and fell in love with the tastings, the tailored recommendations, and the private tastings, a company membership felt like a natural extension of those benefits.

In addition to the individual discounts on memberships and purchases, the partnership also includes privately hosted tastings in Silverchair’s historic downtown offices and discounted purchases of wine to have on hand at the office for happy hours and beyond.

Here’s what their team thinks so far:

  • “We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Wine Guild as part of our corporate membership program. They have been thoughtful and attentive to the preferences of our people, and willing to work with us to plan wine tastings to suit our challenging company calendar. Not only so they offer a brilliantly curated selection of wines, they are also terrific partners." - Lily Garcia Walton, Chief People Officer

  • “I adore the Wine Guild - from the incredible & affordable recommendations to the lovely events - and I have loved extending those services to our office culture. Will literally hand-picked wines for us to have in our kitchens for events and personally drove them to the office! Ben also did a private cheese/chocolate pairing event for our women’s group, which was a huge hit.” - Stephanie Lovegrove Hansen, Director of Marketing at Silverchair

  • “Joining the Wine Guild is one of the best choices I’ve made for my self-care in the pandemic. I can email them and ask for anything (for instance, weeknight red wines under $20, weird varietals welcome) and they can find it for me. They also encourage me to branch out and try new things with their timely emails about new wines, varietals, and more.”  -Emily Hazzard, ProductOps Analyst

  • Our corporate partnership with Wine Guild has been fantastic! The tastings are a lot of fun and great for team building! The staff is friendly and amazing at recommending wines for every budget! - Peter Torres, Manager, Talent
