Ok, I have finally landed on my top picks for under $10 wines that I think are sure to please for the Holidays. I am not going to get crazy with descriptions here. These are both really good wines in their class and I have waited so long to even send this e-mail because I have tasted so many unimpressive under $10 wines that it has not seemed worth it until now.

The white I really liked a lot. It has the perfect balance of fruit to mineral character. It is easy to drink and enjoy without thinking about it but there is enough to think about for those who care. I really love Verdicchio, it is one of my favorite Italian white wines. Sometimes they can be made without enough acid and come off as flabby, but when they are correct they have a certain chalky/cavey/creeky thing that makes them really interesting. This wine has it as well as abundant fruit and acidity and I think it will be a hit for the holidays, dinners, parties or whatever.
